                                                                                    blued barrel/cylinder and smooth black

The version dedicated to General Patton
has imitation ivory grips with a monogram
                                                                                    and a 4 and 3/4” barrel.

The Huckelberry has a 3.5” barrel and The Meldrum is nickel-plated and has a
a bird’s beak grip. The engraving has a 4 and 3/4” barrel. The frame has a first-
particularly pronounced chiaroscuro effect. generation base pin retainer.

happens, you just have to put the pin back in its place. The recoil impulse is mellow and progressive: the .45
Colt is a “big round”, but the operating pressures are much lower than modern magnum calibers because
safety must be preserved if these cartridges were to be used in original vintage firearms designed for black
powder. The 12-inch version is even more controllable and the muzzle climb is really mild. The front-heavy
design increases stability, while the length of the line of sight minimizes aiming errors. The rear sight is a
fixed “U” notch milled at the top of the frame, while the front sight is a thin “fin” with well-defined edges.
At the dimly illuminated Isola del Tiro indoor range, I did not see annoying reflections on the blued front
sight of the Centennial or on the chromed front sight of the Theodore Roosevelt. Obviously, reflections can
happen more easily if you shoot at an outdoor range. To solve the problem, you can blacken the rear part of
the front sight using a lighter, the same method used by old cowboys. Shooting with these engraved Piettas
was truly a pleasant experience, especially because the fixed sights were almost perfectly in line with the
point of impact of the bullets.
The Old West is and will always be embodied by the 1873 revolver, which Pietta has been able to reproduce
so well for many years now. The new laser engraving technique allows you to immerse yourself even more
deeply into the spirit of the Frontier’s era, while giving you the opportunity to own and cherish a luxurious
                 but affordable firearm.
