The Italy that

ith the first issue of Guns The italian way, a new challenge begins. Challenging. Stimulating. Global.
Challenging because it has the ambitious goal of translating in english the best of the material
W produced by the specialists of Armi e Tiro magazine, trying to guess different tastes and
expectations in various countries of Old Europe and overseas.
Stimulating, because we can share the point of view and professionality of journalists and testers who for
over thirty years have represented the strength of a magazine that, thanks to the authority gained in the field,
has become the reference point about specialized magazines in Italy.
Global, because the goal is to speak to millions of shooters, hunters, collectors and gun enthusiasts around the world.
But Guns The Italian way is also a unique and original opportunity to make known the made in Italy of italian
guns production, a real flagship of the manufacturing industry of our country, renown and appreciated by
enthusiasts and professionals from all over the world.
Rifle and shotgun; pistol and revolver; footwear and clothing: everything ends up under the lens of our
testers and is field tested, with functional, precision and resistance tests.
For the first issue of Guns The Italian way, we chose the Benelli Lupo, the first bolt-action entirely designed
and produced in the Urbino factory, from where rifles such as the 121 and the Raffaello came out, as well as
the inertial locking system that have consacrated the company as a world leader in shotguns for hunting and
action shooting. Into the Lupo, there is all the know-how developed in 50 years of experience, for a hunting
rifle ready to challenge American competitors.
And then, two shotguns so different from each other, but which together represent the true symbol of Italian
gun production: the Perazzi High tech 2020 Gold 12 gauge and the Beretta Ultraleggero 12 gauge. The first
represents the evolution of the over-under shotgun that allowed Perazzi to dominate on the shooting ranges
all over the world, winning the World Cup and Olympic titles. The second is an over-under designed for
hunting which, despite being made of steel, has its strong point in its very low weight.
The Franchi Affinity 3 20 gauge is also dedicated to hunters, the semi-automatic shotgun with inertial locking
system which, for reliability and quality/price ratio, represents the optimal choice for young people who
want to approach hunting, but also for more experienced hunters who want a specialist rifle.
From shotguns for hunting and clay shooting, to rifles for sport shooting: we tried the Venus rifle, produced by
Victrix, a brand that in few years have been able to earn a reputation even internationally for the quality of its
bolt-action rifles. We tested the V version, which represents the top of the range for rifles destined for the Prs.
Another sector that has made the whole world appreciate the quality of weapons produced in Italy is the
replicas one. We tried two richly engraved versions of the famous Pietta 1873 revolver in .45 Colt caliber: one
with a 12-inch barrel, the other with a 7.5-inch barrel.
We wanted to close this first issue of Guns The Italian way with an article dedicated to the Carcano ‘91 cavalry
carbine, in honor of the gun that made the history of Italian war rifles, alongside our soldiers in both the First
                 and Second World Wars.
Guns, but not only: hunting with six boots that Italian companies put on the feet of enthusiasts from all over
the world: the qualities, materials and our ratings in a comparison that aims to help the hunter making the
                 right choice.
Guns The Italian way is all this, but also much more: not one of the many magazines dedicated to sporting
or hunting guns, but the magazine designed and written by the best Italian specialists to introduce the best
made in Italy products, without forgetting the field tests of European, American and worldwide productions
that we are already preparing for the next issues.
                                                                                                          Giulio Orlandini

                                                                                          editor’s letter
